DESCRIPTION

On an HP ProLiant SL230s Gen8 server, HP ProLiant SL250s Gen8 server, or HP ProLiant DL160 Gen8 server running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.1, when attempting to update the firmware on the HP Ethernet 1Gb 2-port 361i Adapter, either of the following will occur:

  • When doing the online firmware update using the Support Pack for ProLiant (SPP) Version 2012.02.0 or Smart Update Firmware DVD version 10.00, at "Installation page," the firmware component will not be displayed for the network adapter.

    OR

  • When doing the online firmware update using the HP Online Firmware Upgrade Utility for Intel adapters on Linux (CP015920.scexe or CP015919.scexe), the following message will be displayed:

ls: cannot access ./iqvlinux/*2.6.32-71.el6.i686_iqvlinux.ko
kernel: 2.6.32-71.el6.i686 is not supported by the component.

SCOPE

Any HP ProLiant SL230s Gen8 server, HP ProLiant SL250s Gen8 server, or HP ProLiant DL160 Gen8 server running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.1, when attempting to update the firmware on the HP Ethernet 1Gb 2-port 361i Adapter to Version 1.84.0 using the online firmware update.

RESOLUTION

This is targeted to be resolved in a future version of the SPP and Smart Update Firmware DVD.

This does not occur with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.2.

To upgrade the firmware, use the offline firmware update for the HP Ethernet 1Gb 2-port 361i Adapter.

The latest version of the offline firmware is available as follows:

  1. Click on the following URL:

    http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html?pageDisplay=drivers

  2. Enter the server adapter for example, NC550m in the "for product" field and click on search.
  3. Select Cross operating system (BIOS, Firmware, Diagnostics, etc).
  4. Select the category Firmware - Network.
  5. Select the Download button next to the description, Offline Firmware image HP Ethernet 1Gb
    2-port 361i Adapter Version 1.84.0 (or later).
